My mom always reminds us that what makes us beautiful is not just how we transform ourselves with Makeup, but also how we retain our youthful glow by incorporating a nutritious diet. I like to experiment and surprise my body with different ingredients. So I keep shaking up my Super drinks and Power juices every now and then. The best part about the shuffle is that is I don’t get bored and also get a bigger variety of nutrition.
So, this Blueberry Berry Smoothie is my elixir for the next couple of weeks.
Blueberries are nutrient-dense and bursting with antioxidants, which help the skin against sun damage and premature ageing. Superfoods like Blueberries with their high concentration of antioxidants and nutrients help combat and can even reverse the aging process. These little berries are also a great source of Vitamin C which is crucial to the formation of Collagen. Collagen is the main structural protein in our body that holds the body together. Constituting about 70% of our skin, optimum collagen levels give the skin a young and healthy appearance.
The best part about Blueberries is that, it can be enjoyed fresh, dried or frozen as it is capable of retaining its nutritional value in different forms. In this smoothie which is an ideal Brekky on the go, I have used fresh berries.
Ingredients: (1 serving)
Blueberries - A handful
Banana – 1 (For a creamy smoothie, I use frozen bananas instead of fresh. Peel the bananas and store them in an air-tight container in the freezer)
Oats – 2 tablespoons
Set Yoghurt – 2 to 3 tablespoons
Milk – 2 to 3 tablespoons
Honey – 1 tsp (optional for additional sweetness)
Chia seeds – To sprinkle
Blend all ingredients except chia seeds in a mixer. Pour into a glass and sprinkle chia seeds on top.
