Latte to Partay!!
Oh, boy! I am so enjoying this ‘Back to School’ phase, being in the midst of colors, palettes, brushes and truckloads of MakeUp. Trust me, if school were this interesting, I would have never left. Also, I can’t wait to complete the course and share with each of you the amazing tricks and tips that I am learning to flaunt that flawless face.
Anyways, what I have on the blog today is something that many of you may be able to relate to. Think of the times when you are having a long day at work and have to head out right after to catch up with a few friends. Or the times, when friends or family comeup with an impromptu dinner plan and you have just enough time to reach the venue. Or the Friday nights, when you want to hit your favorite bar for a drink or two straight out of a long week. One thing common across all these scenarios is that you do not have the luxury of time to change your outfits or redo your MakeUp. And for such days, what I have handy in my bag is a bunch of MakeUp essentials which make the transition from day to night super easy and effortless
Whether it’s Latte to Partay or Cappuccino to Vino, these products are so effective in achieving the desired effect, whether it’s just doing a touch-up or changing your look altogether.
For the day
I trust my Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation from Bobbi Brown for long days. The best part about this formula is that it conceals imperfections perfectly while making the skin look 'Oh so natural'. You can build coverage by just layering the product and this one stays through the day.
I like my eyes bare if I am going bright on my lips. So to start with, I have applied Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion to ensure that my shadow lasts long and stays crease free. I have used a few colors from the Urban Decay Naked palette to create a little shimmer to complement the bright red color on my lips. I have used the color ‘Naked’ all over the lids to create a matte base and then dabbed ‘Half Baked’ which is a gold shimmer, over it. Also, used the color ‘Smog’ to blend the outer corners of the eyelids to soften the shimmery edges. And as with any other look, I love my Mascara for bringing life to my lashes. I have used a waterproof one to ensure that it lasts through the day.
I believe that every girl should have a Red lipstick in her makeup kit, because there IS a Red for each one of us. I just love the power and versatility of Red. So, for this look I have used Bobbi Brown lip color in Red and lip gloss in Rose Sugar to make the color pop a bit.
A pretty straight forward, clean look with a pop of color for the day – Wouldn’t you agree? If you are not a ‘Red lips’ person you could go for a shade of pink, although I will guarantee that you would find a shade of red which will make you fall in love.
Now, fast forward to 7 PM and you just have about 5 minutes to quickly touch up before you head out for the evening. Here is how I would spend that 5 minutes.
Face – I love this tiny little dude, Face Touch Up Stick from Bobbi brown for literally being a face saver on busy days. It’s your foundation in a compact stick formula when you do not want to slather on more layers, but just enough to touch up those areas that need further coverage. My shade is obviously the same as my foundation, Warm Honey. All I do is apply a few dots on the areas that I need and then dab and blend with my fingers for an even look.
Eyes – For nights, I like my eyes to be a little intensified and my best bet is a Kohl pencil to achieve that in a jiffy. I have used Mac Kohl pencil in ‘Teddy’ which is one of my favorite shades and is amazing to create soft and natural eyes. I have lined only half of the eyelids and avoided the inner corner, going thicker with application towards the outer corner. Remember to reapply a coat of Mascara on your lashes.
Lips – I love how one can work with a lip pencil and gloss to play around with the color of a lipstick. I use a gloss to brighten the lip color and use a lip pencil which is a shade darker to make the lipstick more rich. While I chose to use a gloss over the lipstick for the day, I used Bobbi Brown Lip Pencil in Sangria all over the lips as a base and then applied the lip color for the evening look. Using a lip pencil under your lip color also makes the color last longer.
Remember to spray a bit of Face Mist to set the MakeUp and to also add make your face and MakeUpappear fresh. I use either one from Forest Essentials or the Bobbi Brown Face Mist.
Wasn’t that quick and easy? The next time you have a long day and a longer evening, you know what needs to be in your bag to make that transition super easy and interesting.
Wardrobe: Black Dress from Mango. (LBDs are my best bet for an easy day to night transition. Accessorize with layered beads for evening.)
