These are a few of my favorite things!!
Call me a material girl and I take no offense. Because on some days, that little black dress or my crushed plum lipstick is what gives me a new lease of life.
In my list of favorites, Makeup has always found a spot on top. I can still recall the excitement heading to Bobbi Brown with my first pay cheque to get my first ever set of Makeup essentials. After a decade, I am as elated if not more, browsing through their new collection every season. These products make you look prettier and empowered with minimal effort – now, who would mind that.
I so believe in the magic of Makeup! Isn't it fascinating that you can fake a healthy glow by dusting a bit of powder highlighter on your cheekbones or get your eyes to sparkle by dabbing some shimmery golden eyeshadow on your eyelids ? I am in love with my Mascara for giving my lashes some much needed definition and rely on my Pot Rouge for a pop of fresh color on my cheeks. The eyebrow pencil has recently found a spot in my list of favorite things, it sure camouflages the threading disasters every now and then.
One can create a sense of mystery and drama with a perfectly blended pair of smokey eyes. Those 15 minutes I spend doing makeup before heading out, is almost` therapeutic. And such is the power of that bold lip color, it will guarantee you to be a head turner. Makeup drives me to play with and create a new look every day.
Over the years, I have also realized the importance of Skincare. Today, I give my Skincare equal importance as my fitness regime. I grew up watching my mom take good care of her skin. I take inspiration from my sister who will never hit the sack without removing her Makeup. Since my early twenties, I have followed the Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize, Protect routine religiously. Someday, I want my kids to thank me the same way that I thank my mom for blessing me with good skin.
For the last six months or so, I have been painstakingly punctual with my night skincare routine. Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate gives you a healthy glow overnight and continued use helps in getting an even skin tone. The Midnight Recovery Eye is a restorative eye treatment that does a fabulous job in reducing dark circles and puffiness. The natural ingredients and the regenerative properties of these products have made them my night time skincare staples.
When it comes to skincare though, I suggest not to be swayed by reviews alone. I experiment with lots of samples and formulae. I am a firm believer that skin types and solutions to skin concerns are unique. What works for the masses may or may not work for me. But once I get my hands on something that works a miracle on my skin, its here to stay.
These days, you get best of both worlds in many beauty products. I am an ardent fan of Bobbi Brown as most of her products address multiple needs. The Long Wear Even Finish Foundation comes SPF 15 can create a natural and flawless face while the Shea butter in it keeps the skin fairly moisturized. The Soothing Cleansing oil is an excellent make up remover and the blend of Jojoba, Kukui nut, Olive and Sunflower oils help restore moisture in your skin, leaving it soft and supple.
They say what you do in your twenties with fitness and Skincare will define your forties. Never too early to start.
I say invest NOW!
